The Bedrooms
Of the 6 rooms in the house, 3 are available for our guests.
For these, we have really thought through each detail of the decor, made with exclusively French materials, and when possible antique furniture.
The beds were sourced around Tourcoing from a sustainable manufacturer, L'Atelier de Morphée, and the duvets in Normandy at Colas.
Cotton percale household linen comes from several European manufacturers.
Catherine has a passion for beautiful lighting.
Finding the rare gem fitted for each room took time. In her search, she stumbled across She found Market Set, a local manufacturer of overhead lighting... Look up! You'll find them in the living room, as well as the Freesia bedroom.
Then, it was Atelier Loupiote that caught her eye, with their suspension made from local wood, near Lyon. These are now hanging in the Gingko bedroom and the master bedroom. Finally, a new escape in the North of France made for finding the lampshade in the Agapanthus room.
All the other lighting fixtures were found or recovered. The one that is most significant is that of the kitchen, forged by Catherine's great-granduncle when he worked in the blast furnaces of Differdange, before being chased out by the war.
The panoramic wallpapers come from French workshop Les papiers de Ninon.
Each room tells a story, but where Stéphane's family history is most present is the Fuchsia room. The boaters hanging on the wall were made by his grandmother who was a hatter. The hat shaper was in her workshop, the sleigh bed comes from Stéphane's great-granduncle, and the chair from his grandmother...
And since everything feeds our story, one of the two veil hats in the room was worn by Catherine at her wedding with Stéphane! The curtains are those of their bedroom, when they lived in Aix-en-Provence; and the mirrors, found and patinated by them, followed them with each of their moves...
It's the story of three friends, very different but very close to each other. One of them left too soon, and the two others had to find a way to cope.
Catherine chose to uproot herself and start a new life. A bit radical maybe, but she's not known to be conventional, and that's why her friends love her.
Each of the friends had a favorite flower, so they naturally became the names of the rooms for this new life.
